In one sentence: your voice becomes text inside your Mac, and we never receive it.
What stays on your Mac
- Audio: the microphone opens only while you hold the shortcut. Audio goes from memory to the on-device recognizer and is discarded. It is never stored or sent.
- Text: dictation, rewriting and translation run on device (Apple Intelligence and Apple Translation). We don't receive it.
- Accessibility: used only to find the focused field and type into it. Nimo never types into password fields.
- Keywords and settings: stored on your Mac, encrypted with AES-GCM and a key in your Keychain.
- Usage stats: local counters. Never sent.
What does leave your Mac
- License: if you buy, Nimo sends getnimo.app your key, an anonymous device identifier (a hash, not your serial number) and the app version, to validate your subscription. We store your purchase email, the subscription status and those identifiers.
- Payment: processed by Paddle.com as Merchant of Record, under its privacy policy. We never see your card.
- Optional downloads: speech models or languages you ask for (Hugging Face or Apple).
